Available on Wolfie's http://wiz8.web1000.com/First off, thank you to Madgod for the increible editor,
Thanks to Flamestryke for letting me use some of her pics from her mod and thanks to Wolfie for hosting the mod for me.
Big update (to version 1.3) so previous saved games will not work.
Over 160+ new/and or unique monsters including many 'mini-bosses' and lots of individually named monsters (Arnika is full of named hll patrollers and such.)
Over 212 new items, many of them artifacts/or personal items from bosses (few are 'mega' powerful, tried to not unbalance the game with tonnes of powerful items.)
Lots of throwing weapons (axes, hammers, darts, chakrum, shriuken, spears, javelins)
Lots of new ranged weapons that don't use ammo (returning thrown weapons, bows that make thier own arrows, slings that make their own shot.)
Tonnes of new musket shot and now pistols are in the game.
Modified the spells for level, damage, and which classes get which spells (the priest class is now quite the hefty class, got a few damaging/protective spells). A few spells are now 'universal', ie, open to all spellcasters and many are re-described or re-named to more reflect their new/modified roles.
This is the 2nd beta release so thier may be some buggy areas (please email me or post on the boards, I'm hard at work at a 3rd version as I post). The lute on the monestary that can't be picked up is fixed as are quite a few weapons.
Possibly most important is the fact that it is now FIRST LEVEL friendly (for the most part), you can now start a party at 1st level and find it challenging but not totally impossible. (for those who believe using level enhancers are kinda cheezy).
Quick note, the Darter Pipes sometimes cause the game to hang when they are fumbled (very, very, very infrequently) as they are a modified version of a trap spell (same with the dart grenade and dagger grenade) and really arnt' meant to be cast at the critters but cast on the party instead when chests are opened.
Next update I will am trying to include multiple upgraded items (if they are not too much of a headache, ie, multiple uses of magic polish to get a better item is ok, but trying to duplicate the Diablo gem studded items is somewhat complicated right now......)
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Deathstalker!First, thanks for all the hard work on making a mod! It is greatly appreciated, and will add a ton of fun to Wiz8. Second, cuz' i is computer ig-nor-ant, how do I correctly install this mod? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, Do you think Ian or Linda Currie will ever make Wiz 9? How can we beg / bribe them to do it? If I were a multi-millionaire, I would pay them to do it. Oh well, we can always hope.
Thanks!
Mr Gumby
Good morning! I'd like to replay Wiz8 again. It has been quite a while.
Which Mods do you guys recommend that I use to make for the best gaming experience?
I'd really appreciate your suggestions. My first time thru the game no mods were available.
Oh! And, how do you install a mod?
Thanks

Thank you Otter, the first bug I have never encountered but most likely removing the Bec De Corbin 1 will stop it. The second I have fixed and will be ok in the next release (which I am hopefully going to send to Wolfie within the next few days.)Other than the bugs how do you find the mod?? I've gotten a few feedback messages and changed some stuff in the next release accordingly as well as tonnes of new stuff (monsters, items, spells, missiles, etc). I know someone didn't want to start the mod because they thought it was too 'easy' or overbalanced when they heard third party that there was an item that gave 50 to dual wielding, well that item is a low damage dagger so the bonus is only good if you use that particular item. Most of the items are low to mid range in power (IMO) with a few nasty ones (mostly cursed though or have a heavy negative in some other area).
Some have been asking how to install mods in general. To those it depends on the mod but with mine just unzip it into a folder by itself and then copy/paste all the folders directly into the wiz8 game folder. Overwrite where necessary and yes you can't stack mods.
I think the biggest challenge with modding this game is that it was not meant to be modded/changed in the first place. Madgod has made an incredible editor and for that I'm greatful, any little bugs are just par for the course and for the most part can be worked around.
