"damaged CD"

I haven't played recently, and my 3rd disc got scratched since the last time I uninstalled. It still limps along, after a fashion, but the real victim is the levels.slf file. It's toast. I can do a basic install, but can't start a new game or load a saved one. Waugh!

I was hoping that someone might be kind enough to post their file somewhere that I could access it, as well as where it goes in the file structure, and maybe get a game started after all. Here's hoping!

PS if posting a link is too wierd, send me a note at

thank you

Go to the Sir-Tech web-site www.wizardry8.com and click the link to tech support. They should be able to help you.

Also, try multiple applications of CD scratch remover. You can buy it at a lot of places. I have been able to repair some very badly scratched CDs that way.

Thanks for the suggestions. I definitely have to check out that scratch remover stuff, almost sounds too good to be true.

I'd like to give a shout out and a great big thank you to my mysterious savior. A random, kind-hearted stranger hooked me up with the file I needed, and all is well - apart from my beauty sleep, anyway.

woohoo!
