"Samurai won't fight"

Posted by GrimJack (Guest) on May-11-04 at 08:30 PM
I can't figure out why my Samurai won't fight -- his combat (the bow & arrow/sword icon is red). His load is about 50%, he has no cursed items. Does anyone know what I should try? It is really beginning to spoil the game for me (no sh*t!)

Thanks for any help

Does he have both bow and arrows equipped? Is he in the front row or back row of the formation? Back row is no good with a sword, and may be blocked from targeting ...

She is my tank, she is front rank Center
She is a level 11 samurai dracon
st 60, int 66, pi 56, vi 60, dx 60, sp 63, se 60 -- Hp 89, stam 182, wields an enchanted katan w/wakizashi and uses an enchanted bow

Hmmm - my reply did not seem to get posted - here it is again:

My samurai is a female Dracon level 11 with all stats in 60's, hp of 89, Stam of 182 and her load is 117/216. She is wielding an enchanted Katana w/wakazashi primary and an enchanted bow secondary. there is nothing on any of the screens that would show a problem. She is front and center - my tank.

Try clicking on your samurai then clicking on a monster. Sounds like your auto-targeting is fritzed. Check your general options to be sure it is enabled.

Hi - thanks for the replies. I am not sure what happened but I had her grab the cursed sword - still couldn't hit but after she was uncursed and went back to her normal weapons, she could hit again. It may well have been the auto-targeting and I just did not notice or it was a minor bugs of sorts.

Anyway, all is well and I am again pleased with the game and ready to go in search of more thrills

I see that I was impatient, the replies all made it through

If yout samurai had a cursed weapon equipped that would limit you to short range weapons i.e. sword dagger. About the only way that he could attack is to run up to the monsters ro hit them or uncurse and swap weapons after every battle. It is one of the shortcomings of the Cane of Corpus powerful but cursed and short range.
