"Odd Sound problem"

Posted by Elementalist on May-05-04 at 01:07 PM
I have an odd problem with the sound. *feels redundant* Anyways...some of the sounds aren't showing up. When a spellcaster/bard/gadgeteer/etc... uses a spell/spell-like ability, I don't ever get the spell sound (like the high pitched screaming for Shrill Sound/Piercing Pipes). Also, sometimes Vi will open her mouth and say nothing. (Nothing against Vi of course, I think she's very nice).

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using a Soundblaster AWE 64 16-bit I think. I tried Creative's site, but they didn't have an updated driver for me. I really want to hear what Ego Whip and other spells sound like.

Thanks for any help.

Before you go nuts under options check the audio to be sure you have all sounds enabled

All the sounds enabled under the Audio Option? None of them are muted if that's what you mean. Or do I look somewhere else?

what Sound Driver are you using (from 3dSetup)? try another one, particularly any "hardware" options. use Miles Fast 2d Positional Audio if nothing else.

I actually went through each of the Sound drivers and pushed the "Test" option until one worked. Now the sounds work correctly. However, Vi does sometimes move her lips, but no sound or textbox appears...I think it's rather strange.

Everyone has the sound problem with Vi.

Some of Vi's words were not voiced ... there might be one or two other NPCs/RPCs with the same affliction. The recorded all the voices, then finished the scripts .... so some "spoken" words you just have to read.

Yes, Vi has this problem when she learns a new spell by using a spell book. I've seen this on several different systems of mine over the years.
