"Ironman"

Well, I finished my 6 fighter (five lizzies and a Mook) game on Expert, and thought it was time to take on an ironman game. Wow - I had no idea how often I must have been save/reloading before! I'm going with a pretty rounded party - ftr/ranger/rogue front rank, then bard/bishop/bishop. 1st time through they got jumped by 8 troopers in Arnika - oops. 2nd time, they didn't make it out of the monastery! Now on thier third attempt, and have got through Arnika and have got to the diamond in the mountain wilderness, but yet to take on Trynton. Anyways, what is a harded challenge for after this party - a six fighter ironman gmae, or a solo ironman game?

BTW, six fighters was not as hard as I thought, although Bayjin and the soulstealer played havoc with my lizzies When they run amok and hit each other, they hit *hard*. Ouch.

Hey Jimbo,

I think you've already chosen a not-so-easy party-composition for ironman. It would have been easier if you had chosen a mage and a priest instead of the bishops, for they advance more quickly.

That said, a party of hybrid-characters would be more challenging than your current party, because they level slowly and you have to work on quite a few stats to make them efficient fighters, spellcasters etc.

Try something like Lord, Monk, Samurai, Ninja, Bishop, Bishop...

I think that a solo-game is the hardest way to play the game, because you

a) can't ressurect fallen party-members, for there's no one around to do so. He or she dies on his/her own, alone in the wilderness... I'd be really scared of those apuses around Marten's Bluff who can critically hit.

b) the character levels so fast, that even in the monastery you'll encounter tough opponents. It took my lone faery-ninja (yes, I know...) many tries to beat the pestilent rats, metallic slimes and poison seekers I encountered in the upper monastery. Not to mention Gregor...

Bye

hardest party is a solo Faerie Fighter, yes, Fighter. only most of the weaker, more common weapons are usable, and only special armor. +2 natural AC doesn't help much when you are naked, and most attacks that do hit, do damage. the Magic Resistance is nice, but when you only have a sling and stones, monster magicians may maul meak magically, while you try and get close.

I startet a Party with 3 Monks and 3 Ninjas, all of them are Dwarfes, to profit from there dwarfen damage resistance, and it worked well so far.
The nice advantage is, that u can learn heal wounds with all 6 charakters and stamina with al your Ninjas, so u still can survive in longer battles.
Im a lottle sorry that i didn't startet a ironman game, because i didnt lost anyone of my chars, and im at arnika at the moment, but i will start a new ironman game when i got time.
The tactic to put the monks with no/short weapons in the front line and the ninjas with extentet weapons in the second (works very well) so the ninjas can support the monks with spells when they run out of health/stamina.

You should at first achieve Iron Will and Body of Stone Expert Skills, so your chances to survive are really high.

If u achieve lvl 15 alchemy skill with one of your ninjas u wont have any problems with heavy heal poions and money!!!

Later if ur critical sttrike skill, and stealth is at 100 skill u can change to another class that can use some more effective armory.

I always run the best when i startet with monks or Ninjas, because they achieve the best hit chance/damage/armory and support spells for simple fights in the early game.
