"Sound settings problem - dosbox & w7"

First let me start by saying thank you for this forum. I recently started a play-through of w7 after over 10 years, and finding this site helped me remember everything I'd forgotten. (and added a few things I never knew about!)

I downloaded the game from madgod's site, and got it running with no problems. Unfortunately, I decided to mess with the sound settings. I set it to use sound blaster instead of PC speaker. Now whenever I try to run the game, I get

SYSTEM ERROR: Unable to Open Score

And I can't seem to find a file that will allow me to revert back to the previous setting. Changing out the SCENARIO.HDR file allows me to start the game, but I cannot load my saved game. I get a disk error.

Although I'm only up to around level 9, I'd really rather not start over. This might be a dosbox issue, but I thought I'd check here first.

Thanks!

If you can save off your saved game file, I would do that, then blow away the install. Reinstall, and restore your saved game.

Tools for Wizardry(r) 7

As it turns out, swapping the scenario file did the trick. I was a dope and I didn't realize it had reset the savegame folder to C:\dsavant instead of just C:\... that's why I got the disk error when trying to load my save.

Thank you for replying, though!

You can also run the installation file through DOSBox. I had to do that to get Wizardry to run period.
