"Rangers KIA% ( CosmicForge / MadGod ?? )"
Posted by sphynx on Jul-06-06 at 00:47 AM
Ok, going through MadGod's most ultimate editor, I came across some things I was hoping someone could shed light on....My Ranger has Kirijitsu at 100% (He started as a Ninja)
He has the Great Bow, and Barbed Arrows.
The Editor says he has a 25% KIA with the Great Bow, and 24% KIA with the Barbed Arrows. Not that it's incredibly important that they do, but do those bonuses stack? Ie: 29%?
Also, the View Game Information says that Rangers get x2 KIA. Anyone know if the Kirijitsu is doubled as well? Ie: does my boy have a 58% chance with the Barbed Arrow, and a 150% chance with the PeaceMakers? (50 for the Peace maker, 5 for the bow, 20 for kirijitsu, double of 75 = 150)
Now that MadGod has 'fixed' the number of attacks with the missiles, I thought I'd see my Ranger with alot more KIAs, may have just been an unlucky night for him though.

Here is what I think:Your ranger has Kirijutsu = X
Bow has KIA = Y
Arrows have KIA = Z
Than your ranger will benefit following resulting KIA when attacking using this bow and those arrows:
(X / 5 + Z)*2
For example 1:
Kirijutsu = 10,
Bow has KIA = 3,
Arrows have KIA = 1
Than: (10 / 5 + 1)*2 = (2 + 1)*2 = 3*2 = 6
For example 2:
Kirijutsu = 10,
Bow has KIA = 20,
Arrows have KIA = 17
Than: (10 / 5 + 17)*2 = (2 + 17)*2 = 19*2 = 38
There is a high probability that following statement is true:
Bows sucks in the game, because their parameters are not counted in the battle calculations.
It is yet to look into the code for exact information. Maybe I will in the nearest future.

Greets!
-1-
So, is this statement about bug:
"Bows sucks in the game, because their parameters are not counted in the battle calculations."
still seems true?
If buggy, then the Cosmic Forge Editor / WizEdit can fix it easily by allocating Bow KIA points to Kirijutus or arrows, with necessary amendments, according to the equation above, right?
-2-
If Rangers KIA is corrected either way, then do you recommend having a Ranger even in the End-Game Party?
(Or what balance modifier would you apply to the Ranger class?)
-3-
In CF Editor, Ninja's have a default extra 5% KIA.
Do Monks and Samurai have any modifier, too, not shown in the Editor?
(As methinks, this makes Ninjas a bit too deadly compared to others.)

Thanx if you comment.

Great Thanks Developers for the CF Editor and WizEdit!

If you are willing to edit the game to "fix" the intended ranger kia % on bows, you could use such edits to test the statement: "Bows sucks in the game, because their parameters are not counted in the battle calculations."Edit a bow that you have to have kia 100%, and see if you get critical hits every time. If not, then the statement is true, so to compensate you would have to edit the kia % of the arrows you are using to also include the kia % you would have with the bow included in the calculations.
Kirijutsu = X
Bow has KIA % = Y
Arrows have KIA % = Z
If the game uses (X/5) + Z, then I assume the bow should also be additive in the %, so the real formula should be:
Critical % = (X/5) + Z + Y
So if you had arrows with 5% kia, and a bow with 10% kia, then to "correct" the bug, you would edit the arrow to be 15% kia. I don't think you can go the route of editing your Kirijutsu to achieve the same result because I don't think you can edit it to be more than 100 (or it would be dangerous to do so), so you can only use that approach if you for some reason intended to have less than 100 kia OR you are using a ranger that didn't class change and has no kia; and to stay clean you would not add points to it on level up, and you would adjust it accordingly as you change bows.
