OK. I'm not sure if it was because I was using a patched version or not, but I found a post on here that suggested that might be the reason. I have the original of the game on floppy, but the disks are missing. I found another version of the game which isn't patched and things seem to be working fine now. Not a problem since I have the magic words.
This is a great game, one I played for many hours when I originally bought it, and I'm glad that I can enjoy it again
. I think I will resist the temptation to use my old maps and make them again as that was part of the fun imo...And then after this there is CoDS
Hi,It's completely normal to whiff a lot in the beginning. Your characters are still learning their weapon skills, and it won't be until they hit around 50-70 that they'll start hitting consistently.
To get more points in their weapon skills, you can devote points to them at level up... or you can simply practice them by fighting baddies. Spinning around in circles at the entrance to the castle and fighting weaklings is a good way to do this.
The Enchanted Blade and Bless spells will also help you to hit better.

I've got the same problem.Well, I've downloaded this game and it starts without any password request.
Now most of the time I cannot hit monsters at all (using weapons) - but they do not hit me either.
From time to time there's a "correct" fight but it's very rare.
Another problem is that there is no Queequeg for example, instead there's such a green lizard fighter who wants to drink with me.
One time I found extremely strong enemies everywhere (my charaters beeing at level 4 or so) and Queequegs room I found Dracula and Rebecca. Kinda confusing.
Well, there seems to be some sort of mistake I presume... (rather obvious)
Is it just because it seems to be a cracked version of the game?
Or better (since I'm not really interested in reasons): How can I solve this? What is this Magic Word List?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English
