"Wiz1: Need Location of Chevron for Hex Editing"

Posted by JohnD (Guest) on May-23-04 at 07:14 PM
I finished Wiz1 on the NES and have successfully transferred my characters and their traits, items, etc. into the PC version of Wiz1 (via a hex editor) with the intention of moving them to Wiz2 (for the PC), but I don't know where the chevron indicator is located. If anyone knows the address where this is located, I'd appreciate a reply. Of course, if the chevron doesn't get moved to Wiz2, then I guess I would like to know that too so I can begin moving my characters. Thanks.

I'm 99% sure the chevron gets transfered from the 1st to 2nd senario.

Also in the 2nd scenario, upon completing the quest you receive another special sign (can't remember the symbol).

So if you import from 1 to 2 to 3 you also keep the signs to show your exploits, and in Wiz 3 you also get a sign (think is it a * according to the endgame text which joggled my memory).

So if you have all 3 signs, then you are truly a hero and you can proclaim to be a Wizardry master

Unfortunately, I don't know the hex where it is, isn't it just plastered over the last character of your name (max. 15 chararters?)? or is it extra bytes?

My above message pertains to the Apple II version.

Byte #206 of the character data is set to '01' if the character has a chevron.
