"Llylgamyn Saga Help"

Posted by JonathanEngr on Jul-13-10 at 04:34 AM
I recently installed the Llylgamyn Saga and English patch on my computer, and have been enjoying the game tremendously. However, I have been discovering how difficult playing Wizardry was... if your party dies, you start from scratch! I know there are trainers and editors out there for the original versions, but does anyone know if there's one for this program? I've looked high and low and assume there's not.

In lieu of this, does anyone know where this game saves the character files, etc.? If I could copy the character file before attempting a tough battle, I could just copy over the file with my dead characters. I thought the save file would be llylsave.dat, but found out the hard way that it doesn't seem to be the one. In fact, using file compare, no other file gets changed one bit in the entire directory (except for the llylsave.dat, but that didn't work). I even tried copying the entire game directory (50 MB) to another folder, playing the game and letting a character die, and then copy the files back over to the directory. The character was still dead. Could the game be saving information to the registry?? I even looked inside of the Users/AppData folder to see if a temp file had been created there. Nothing.

I've created two parties and gotten them both to level 10 and lost them due to being teleported into a section with no exit. I dies after running out of cure paralysis and cure poison spells. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

Hi,

Could you tell us which Wizardry scenario exactly that you are playing, Wiz 1, 2 or 3 or ? Is it from the Ultimate Wizardry Archives? Was the installation from CD, from floppies, from what?

Also tell us which platform you are playing, the Apple II version, the IBM version or another version? Are you playing through an emulator? If so which emulator?

one tip I can give, after doing the NES version, is to have 5 neutral characters (Fighter/Samurai/Thief/2 Mages), one Good Priest, one Evil Priest, and one bishop. thankfully the Neutral characters can go anywhere, then you can swap priests for the other 2 floors.
btw, if you take out the priests completely, and have an all neutral party, you can Malor anywhere but floor 6, and not worry about getting kicked out.
you could, if you wanted to, have 1 priest, and just change alignment to whatever you need, though I find it easier to have 2 priests instead.
surprisingly, I found it a bit short, as there are only 6 floors. (some other versions, e.g. GBC, have extra floors), versus the 10 in PG
