I love it and all I've done is roll up six characters. I rolled a samurai with 18 points, 2 fighters both with 27!!! A thief with 19, a priest with 20 and a bishop with 18. It only took about half an hour unlike Bane or Crusaders which generally take half an hour per character. I just hope they don't get hammered too early and die as there is a distinct lack of savegame technology. I think I'll just back them up at the start and then keep restarting when something horrible happens.

Yes, Wiz1 is a great game! If you think I've been playing W7 for long (8 years), well, I've had Wiz1 installed on my computers basically since I was 10 years old, and about once a month or so, I still take a trip into the dungeons (made much easier by purchasing the archives, I was playing them on a real beat up Apple until then!) Saved games? Who needs them? (Make sure you back up the game file so you can always just swap it if disaster strikes.

Also don't forget about the great "restart an out party" feature" -- works like this: if someone in your party dies, quit the game before you make a move... then restart an out party and poof, you're back in the maze with all your characters doing just fine.

Hmm... takes me longer to roll characters for W1 than it does for 7... not sure why... also remember that there are several key items in W1 that will upgrade your characters to an elite class without a level or attribute hit! The best thing is that once you learn teleport, you have almost as much to explore as you did before.

Only 14 More To Go!

Don't even Dream of playing Wiz I with only 6 PC's. Roll up at least another 6... and throw in some G/E/N alignments. You'll need them later on.

When your original 6 are high enough, start mixing and matching the other PC's. Their XP will go up fast and they'll be there when you need them.

I ran 20 PC's through the Proving Grounds and couldn't bear the thought of losing any of them.
