"DragonQuest Wizardry Scenario - update"

Posted by Snafaru -ur on May-06-00 at 09:35 PM
Well, after another 200 hours of works things are looking quite good. The scenario is now 85-90% finished. I am amazed that after all this work I am still learning stuff, I even had to throw in an extra 50 hours at the experience points distribution because the algorythm to calculate them changes at very high levels, sheesh! Side note: the dragons and the demons are toned down compared to what they can do in the pen&paper DragonQuest. For example, I don't know many characters who could survive a Tiltowait's power multiplied by a factor of 5. And if you don't find that enough, then how about if that spell is thrown at you 50 times in a row?! That's the kind of power Dragons and Demons have in the paper DragonQuest. And there are other thing that cannot be duplicated in Wizardry but I'm beating my brains at giving the beasties somewhat equivalent powers while trying to maintain balance.

Is this for your own benefit, or are we all going to be allowed to play this game?

I am just curious. After all, it seems like it has a Wizardry flavor to it. I might be interested.

The scenario will be available free of charge for anyones who whishes to play it. The download web page will include an Apple II emulator for the PC, the scenario and a Player's guide which will include installation instructions, the new races, the new classes, new starting stats, the maze commands, a summary of all the spells, etc.

My goal is to make sure that anyone, even the non-initiated, will have enough info to play the game.

B.T.W. as of this writing, the scenario is now more than 90% completed. It will probably be finished within a month since I'm in the play-testing stage and fixing the bugs.
