"Bard Song Question"
Posted by Joey Nipps on Dec-19-01 at 12:10 PM
Are Bard songs resisted in the same manner as their comparable magic spell - that is by the same resistance grouping (Fire, mental, etc.) or are Bard songs "more" effective toward end game (perhaps not being resisted as much)?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-19-01 AT 03:01 PM (Pacific)good question.
the only thing i can think of is, that yes they are resisted, but it seems different than just realm resistance. i can cast a lvl 6 bardsong and get 4 out of 5 critters subdued in a cast, but no matter how many times i throw it at them again, that same one guy keeps resisting.
that doesn't happen with spells.
maybe it's based on distance, too. so far, i have NEVER had a fizzle or a backfire with an instrument. i CAN cast against earth resistant baddies, and still get thru their resistance.
TEF, where are you?? come help us with this problem!!

~~april~~hi sweetie!! ::big hug::
they are upgrading the forum software and adding another server! it seems like this happens about every 6 months or so. i just sent off a note and should get an idea of when they will be back online, but even tho they say like 1-3 days....in all practicality it has always taken about 5-6 days. they need time to test and fix any bugs that crop up and all!
don't worry. they're not going anywhere!!
i keep seeing other family members popping up all over, so spread the word if you see anyone!

I have noticed that the Bard songs/notes vary in level (sometimes it is cast at leve 3, sometimes 7). Powders and potions have set levels.Also, bards do fumble and backfire, it is "hits a wrong note".

it's very possible i never noticed the levels... but i thot each instrument was its own level. does that mean it will sometimes cast at a lower level? does it give you a message when that happens? i have it set for verbose, so that i can tell what's what in a battle, but while that's good, it also makes things go by quickly, and i may be consistently missing those types of messages.
i guess i have been lucky, because my bard's song has yet to "hit the wrong notes" or anything similar!
LOL. my bard is good...guess she practiced a lot when she was a kid, instead of playing baseball with the girls!

PS: nice touch! ::gesturing at the new colors on the board:: i like it much, much better. in fact, it is rather soothing. all that white was a bit bright.
