Can anyone tell me what it means when a piece of armor (as in most of the samurai stuff) has a weight class of "special" instead of the usual light, medium or heavy.

As a general rule:

'Light' armor can be used by all classes

'medium' armor can be used by the combat classes (Fig, Lor, Val, Sam, Ran, Rog)

'heavy' armor is only usable by the big 3 (fighter, lord, valk)

The 'special' designation often means it's only usable by 1 class alone.
