I have been trying to disable destroy the T'Rang teleporter (basically the last Upani quest, if it is). I have killed ALL the T'rang and turned that one switch to the off position. The two glass windows I can not open. Do I need that diamond to break the glass or what

I think you want to disable the transporter (ever watch Star Trek), not the teleporter. The machine in question (that you want to deal with) is right in the same area, around the corner, fomr Z'ant.
