"Is it possible to..."

Ok, here's my story:
I tried to "play both sides" at 1st, then ended up to a point where the Trang discovered what i was doing and became hostile. So I replayed the game by doing all but the last Trang missons without siding with the umpani 1st, and then do all but the last Umpani's missons. Now the Trangs are still friendy EVEN i am on the last mission of the Umpani (which is to destroy the Nargisst), and the Umpani are friendy even i am suppose to destroy their ship. I tried the Trang mission by destroying the Umpani mothership, and Zant congrated me and gave me money and about 600kxp. But also i read between the lines of the things being said by the 2 leaders and it seems that they dont actually hate each other, and they have a common enemy - the dark savant.

What i want to ask is: Is there a WAY that i dont need to destroy their mothership(s)? and unite them against the savant?
I believe there is, because Zant comment that he 'feel' maybe they and the Umpani may work together and General Yamir says 'the Trang has the right to live too'.

BTW, my plan for my party is to change them all to psionics upon maybe level 20.

Dracon Lord using polearm and modern wpn --> psionic
Dorf monk using bare hands --> psionic
Farie ninja using staffs --> psionic
Hobbit ranger modern wpn --> psionic
Farie bishop, wizardry and divinity --> psionic
Farie bishop, divinity and alchemy --> psionic

No matter how well you are buffed, you will still go insane or turncoat (I am sure i have 100 mental resist PLUS soul shield AND helm of serenity and i still become insane) and when 3 or 4 of ur party starting killing each other, u may as well reload the game. The Lord can use mindblast rod, farie ninja can use 2 rod of sprites, they can still use wrist rockets and mystery ray as range wpns.

Yes it is possible to work for both sides and unite them at the end against their common enemy.

Not too much to tell. You can complete all the quests for both sides (with the exception of the final request like blowing up the ship).

You must pay off He'Lei or she will turn you in so to speak.

At that point, it is a matter of saving the prisoners in the Rapax Away camp and returning them to their respective leaders.

Be aware, once you do that, the Rapax will turn hostile on you so be prepared to brawl quite a bit.
