"Going Solo"

I have seen some people make a referance to a single person party, is this possible? What profession and race could it be done with?

possible? yes
could be done with - any character race and class combonation.
Fairy Ninja is one of the easier ones to try, particularly with CoC, while a Faerie Fighter is hard (few weapons and only "special" armor, no spells, only basic skills)

I have a question along this line. I'm trying a solo faerie monk, and a solo faerie ninja for the first time...but my monk is at a spot where he just can't win the battle (ran outta healies, run out of healing spells) and he's still in the monastery. I'm worried the same thing will happen with my faerie ninja (already down to las heal item). Anyone got any tips on how to get out of the monastery alive? (i'm already dreading the battle with all the seekers in that room near the exit)

train stealth by defending when there is one enemy left. let him attack you, then cast heal wounds, to build magic, repeat until out of magic and then kill it.
also, wait a while to level up, as monsters are stronger when you are of a higher level.
keeping your level low, helps you survive more, especially in the early stages. and, your skills will be improving significantly, and you may not even have to worry about close combat, martial arts, stealth, or magic skills, and can concentrate on ranged combat and bow/sling skill

D2000's right. I had a third level rogue started with 10 lt. heal and went up against eight seekers. About an hour later he had 100 stealth and a whopping +10 to his AC.

Stealth, the Breakfast of Champions.

I'm trying it with a lord. I figured it would probably be a nice combination of magic and hitting power. Am I as doomed as I think I am? I'm having an awful time surviving the random encounters.

no, just requires a bit more strategy than a normal 6-8 character party
like keeping your back against a wall, or preferably in a corner, to avoid those back attacks for twice the normal damage.
also, sneak up on enemies, there is a "start combat" icon on the bottum, that most don't use. but it is very useful for less powerful parties.
also, train 2 daggers, to build up dagger and dual weapons skills far quicker than a sword and a dagger. you can train sword later.
this also, might be a better time to use the best weapons you can get, just to survive. a standard party could use weak weapons (e.g. longsword vs. broadsword), to build up the skills, as there would be others healing them, and damage is spread around.
also, take into account the enemies maximum range (ctrl-right click for info), and attack them with arrows, so that they waste time getting close enough to you. also, the farther away you are, the worse their aim is. not as easy hitting a 6 foot target from 100 feet away, as it is from 30.
remember to use the terrain to your advantage. in the monestary, for example, use the doors and boxes as shields. if you close a door that has a window, you can still attack them, but most, if not all of their attacks will be blocked by the door. works well against the slimes.
the boxes, just partially hide behind them, so you can still attack them. leave them less of a target to hit. the enemies aren't all that bright, and will still continue attacking you, instead of moving around for a better shot.

I also found that switching to novice helps

I havent beaten the game in party mode yet so i havent wasted too much time with solo. What interests me, however, is a solo character who has the most potential. It seems to be bishops have a large potential b/c they have, ultimately... access to every spell. Secondly, bards seem to have it good for equipment, skills, and music. (Far Far Far better equipment bonuses). Also, rangers seem like they'd be the ##### with blunderbuss or golden bow w/ eagle eye 100, stealth 100, and crit strk 100. Then of course mook are the only ones that can use those ridiucluous giant swords. So its all about a balance. If i were gonna try it, I think i'd do a mook who started out as a rogue or ninja, then moved on to bishop, and in high levels went bard or ranger. But the best advice is what they've already said. Focus on skills, if you don't you're always gonna get your ass kicked.

Is it possible to go solo as a Mook. What happens at the Mook hologram?

A solo Bishop levels very slowly and gets low HP at level up. He also can not wear much in the way of armor. I think a solo bishop would be pretty tuff.

but, a Bishop gets access to every spell in the game. while tough at first, once you gain a few levels, and learn a few spells, it becomes much easier. except for the magic-resistant variety later, but you get Enchated Blade, ArmorPlate, Magic Screen, Guardian Angel, and a whole slew of other spells to help you.
as for toughest, an Ironman Lizardman Mage (not bishop), is tops. no 25% bonus to Wizardry, and the early level ups focus entirely on Intelligence (apprentice). but at least you get more HP and Stanima than normal mages.
close behind is a Faerie Fighter, whose inability to equip anything good, and no magic, low HP, Stanima, and CC, along with pathetic starting equipment (1 Faerie Stick is going to do you a lot of good against the giant spider in the monestary) makes this the least survivable class there is.

Yo, but there is. Doll Armor.

Just kidding. I don't think a FF could even get there and if he/she could it'd take fifty Knock Picks to open the door.
