Also, are females better than males in most cases(does stamina recovery better increase in physical strenght?) Any help greatly aprpeciated, and Tiltowait forever(oldie but goodie!!)

The main advantage of fairy ninjas is a weapon you can pick up in Trynton - the Cane Corpus. A fairy ninja almost always performs poorly until you get that weapon. The best training would be:
staff&wand weapons - fairy stick, quarterstaff, Bo, Hayai Bo.
attributes - dexterity, speed, senses. Strength to 60+, vitality to 60+ to avoid stamina problems
skills - critical kill, staff&wand, stealth, alchemy to 15 then mix potions to build the alchemy skill

You can train throwing, but the Cane prevents you from swapping weapons so throwing becomes more complicated. I usually keep the Cane in the ninjas personal carry and arm him with winterwand/thunderstick for "ordinary" monsters.

I always have my faerie ninja use the faerie stick as primary and shillelah (spelling?) as secondary weapon to build the staff & wand skill.
Their ability for critical hits is outstanding!!

The whole thing behind the FN is the Cane of Corpus (first seen in Crusaders of the Dark Savant. Pick up a copy if you can find it). The CoC has major pluses to hit and initiative, can critical, poison, paralyze and k.o. opponents and does a base of 24-40 dmg per hit. The only drawback is that it is cursed, which means that you can't use missile weapons in long range combat. If you whish to use the CoC, start developing your magic when it becomes available at 5th lvl. This way your ninja can use spells in lieu of missile weapons. As far as the remale vs. male aspect, there are special items for females only that help with stamina regeneration and the Eye for an Eye spell. Fewer items are available that are male only. The CoC is held by Don Barlone in the Rattkin tree section of Tryton. Try to be at least 9th lvl to have the best chance of beating him. Happy adventuring!

My feel on this, and I've never played one solo, is that the Cane of Corpus is for the FN that is going it alone. I read an article by this Altus7 on Kraggy's Bored about the Ninja and have played them as part of a party and I feel, as part of a party, the Ninja is best used as a ranged critical, rear area attacker that helps the party with potions and such majiks as occasion demands. The Boomerang Shuriken, found at the Sorceress Queens temple is used and with the second hand throwing whatever is available (BTW, is this the only Boomerang Shuriken to be found?), so save those Death Stars and Doom Darts for the big battles. Remember, it's those "instant kill" messages we're after with the Ninja, not large damage numbers floating up off the enemies. Put a Fighter, Valkyrie, Monk or some similar tank up front if you're running a party, using the Cane of Corpus is for when you have no other choice.

In my humble opinion.

With all due respect,
If you have your FN only as a ranged attacker, and he/she has the CoC, you're really not getting the best out of them. Sure, you want those inta-kills, but the FN can do it up close and personal. Remember, this weapon can paralyze and k.o. opponents, and it always poisons, which means that even if you don't get triple digit damage per hit, you can still incapacitate your foes. I'd much rather have foes who can't fight back than even heavily wounded ones that can. From what I've seen, playing the game since its release, if you want ranged criticals you can't beat either a ranger with the triple shot crossbow and hunter bolts, or a gadgeeter with a 8th level or higher Omnigun. Death from long distance is their strength and the strength of the FN w/CoC is up close combat with a major in alchemy. Just my opinion, of course.

I agree with Wintersteel.

The real value of a Fairie Ninja is getting in there close. The Cane incapacitates or insta-kills that often (it's happened to me even with Nessie a couple of times), that other tanks then make short work of the rest of the battle.

Additonally, with the stealth, race and and speed bonuses my FN's AC was in the low 20s from memory. Add to that a Fey ring (AC+5 with the stealth bonus), and FN's are almost untouchable. Their initiative is also the highest, meaning that they're almost always striking first.

For all these reasons, IMO up close and personal is best.

Proof is in the pudding, I've just started a solo game with a Faerie. He started as a mage w/77 int, lv-up to bishop and went for 5 or six lv-ups adding str and vit to get the stats to make ninja. I just completed stealth training last night in the upstairs area just inside the upper monastery against the three seekers.

My strategy is to do the spell-less bishop thing with a few modifications. I plan to go back to bishop next but want to skip the rest of the monastery and go straight to Arnika for some PP training while he's still a ninja. After lv-up to bishop do the psionic and alchemy training, head up to Umpani Camp and then to mountain wilderness to the waterfall and get the Staff of Doom.

I'll play it by ear from there but the object is to go back to ninja for one level before I PP the Don for the Cane of Corpus. Maybe I'll wait until the bishop training is through, who knows. Part of the reason I love this game is it's flex-ability.

Any ideas will be given due consideration.
