"why doesn't Bela help?"

I took a low-level party (L 7-8) into the Moutain Wilderness to see Ascension Peak before it was closed off. They were a bit too low-level for the monsters they met; but they fled some golems up AP to Bela, who then just stood there blowng his bubbles as the fight went on. Why? You'd think he'd _want_ to help.

Definately a problem: I've never been able to get Bela to lift a finger to help. He/She seems to be the most 'neutral' character in the game. Also very difficult to pickpocket.

A good question. At first I thought it was because he's a vendor, but Ferro will help out in Rapax Castle--just don't get him killed.

It wouldn't make sense for him to join in a battle, get killed, then show up at ascension peak.

Because he wants to be sure you're going to be strong enough to help him when the time is right.
