- Is there any difference between the search mode turned on, and detect secrets?
- The room in Marten's Bluff next to where you crush Rampex, are two machines that turn on or off; what do they control?
- Does the gas switch control anything in this area? I read somewhere that it controlled a trap on the combination room, but when I entered that room without using the gas switch, there wasn't a trap to begin with?
- The first time I used a NF, did anyone notice that it's hard to get any good stuff in chests, and after half way through game can't get spider silk or other items for NF? There is either a conspiracy with party members you choose, or a strange random game setting for items you can get.

(to #2)

The machines control (by locking in place) either just the two glass doors or the two glass doors and the elevator.

Search mode depends on your scouting skill, and Senses.
Detect Secret depends on your spellcaster's abilities, Intelligence, magical study skill, the Mental (?) realm skill, and spell caster level.

work differently, but, if you have DS, you may as well use it, even if only a weak one, and with Search mode, with a ranger. should work well.
