I am having a problem in the seacaves. Everytime I use the hook and line to try to climb up through ceiling my party all dies and i see the message that my party has been crushed. What am I doing wrong???

.. but aproach it from a different angle or side? I have not heard of this problem before, though there are some quirky things that can "crush" your dumbfounded party.
If nothing else, you might try reloading to a spot before that save, and try it again.

Might be a corrupted data file. A reinstall might be necessary.
