"Trouble with the lava lord"

Hi,
I'm fairly new at this - but I have made it to Rapax Rift - and I am having absolutely no luck with the lava lord and his firey minions. I try to outrun them with no luck. What beats this guy anyway? Is there a secret way out of the area so I don't have to fight him? Or, if I must fight, what are his weaknesses. (Unfortunately for me, my fighter has recently gone insane and can't help me in a battle.) Thanks for any help!

Not knowing what character classes you have will make this
a little harder. First, cure your Fighter. If you don't have someone with the Sane Mind spell, leave until you do. Use Water based attacks, Ice Bomb works good. Elementals do a good job, I have heard that having a level 6 or 7 elemental will cause the Lava Lord to ignore you. Note that Paralize is a Water based spell, so either use the spell or a Gadgeteer with Duct Tape. Armormelt can help a lot.

It is not necessary to defeat him to pass through the rift to the castle.So, you can come back later to take him on when you have levelled up or have some Ice Bombs, canned elementals, etc.

Right click on the monster for it's stats. It will help in determining what to throw at him.

If you have restoration potion that will cure his insanity
