"LIGHT SWORD and LIGHT SHIELD"

Posted by HGLEE on Jun-01-03 at 11:26 AM
Hi @ all

I know that it is really tough to get the Light Sword and Excalibur.
I killed Nessi and Saved before opening the chest in Dow's Locker. I tried many times but the content of the chest didn't change.
I tried the same in Bajiin to get a light sword. I left the to chests closed(in the hut and at the beach) and entered from Bajiin Shallows. Without success too.

Is this the right tactic or not?

Thanks for Helping

"Special Item "reset" button"

To get these chests to "reset", you must leave the scene you are in, and return. So, you can't just save, fight, open, then reload if you are not pleased with the results.

You have to (well, you don't "have to" but this is one way) save in another scene (like Umpani Water Caves), then go the the scene where the chest is (like Bayjin Shallows), then open, then reload (back to Umpani Water caves, in this exaqmple) if you are not pleased with the results.

Basically the "randomness" of these "special item" chests is set when you enter the scene.

I did it many times. Saving in Umpani Water Caves, entering Bajiin Shallows and opening the chest in Dow's Locker but the items were every time the same. I think it's not normal.

...you noted that you killed Nessie and saved before opening the chest.

The chest contents in Davey Jones Locker are determined at the time you enter the Shallows so your save must be prior to entering that area.

I killed Nessie and went back to Mount Gigas Water Caves and saved the game but the content of the chest never changed. Maybe the chests are set before entering an area the first time. I hope that isn't the trough

Yes, chests are set when you first enter an area. So you always have to go to a save BEFORE you entered the area the first time to get different items in chests.
