Only an Alchemist can use it.
FYI - When you look at the properties of an item (Right click on it), you can see the Professions that can use the item on one tab and the Races on the other tab.

How then, do use this food found in the cave with Anselm and his monks(forget what it's called).

have you tried literally USING it?, the same way you would use a Heavy Heal Potion.
