Wow, it's been years since I posted at this form or more specifically the old form at the vault.....Anyways, my Rogue and I have been slowly but steadily making our across through Dominus through many perils and many many many battles.
When I tried to grab the stone idol from Martens Bluff we ran into a problem. Crock comes by and kidnaps one of my guys, however since I have only one character, the game ends right there and then with the ubiquitous death screen because the entire party is MIA.
This seems to be a pretty important part of the plot and rather unavoidable as well.
So I am wondering, what can I do. I was thinking of temporarily hiring on a NPC and then do the quest but I don't know if that will work.
Any ideas or am I doomed?

I haven't tried the single PC game yet but I know that there is a way around it somehow. RPC like you said or kill Crock before hand. (?)

Two eays out. one Kill ctoc before getting the idol only losses to thys way is loss of the 75000 EXP for completing the Btekkek qiest and that slimy SOB does have a lot of good stoff including a supply of 4th and 5th level spellbuuks. Two recruit an NPC.

Kill Crock first. If you recruit and RPC, I don't know if the game continues if your character ends up being the one kidnapped, and I don't recall and RPC ever getting taken by Crock.
