"Importing wiz7 parties?"

While I am waiting for wiz8 to arrive to me (in Norway), I would like to know a few things about importing wiz7 charcters.

I started wiz7 with an imported wiz6-"super"-party (all base statistics >= 18, all skills =100, lvl around 70). This resulted in a "slightly unbalanced" starting party at lvl 5, with all skills about 30 (do not remember actual numbers), base statistics close to 18, all party-members with a working knowledge of most low-level spells, in addition to transfer of some very cool magical items. How is this handled in wiz8 (I have about the same level finishing party in wiz7 as in wiz 6)?

Item transfer is more balanced now as I understand it. How about base statistics (str, int, etc), skills and spell knowledge and what level do imported parties start at?

Thanks, Magnus

Imported characters start at level 1 but can immediately level up 4 times to level 5. It seems none of the real powerful weapons import no Light Sword, Muramasa, ect.
The Elven Bow does transfer.

Stats are down considerably but probably still higher than a new party. Your hybrid magic users start with 3 low level(1st) spells in apparently random spellbooks. Not sure about the main magic users, only had one of those and didn't heed him much attention.

Nice thing with the new aspect is that you can class change and get the 4 level ups with the new class, say you Samari spent time on the ship playing with gadgets and now wants to be a gadgeteer then you can start with a level 4 gadgeteer from the start if you have the right stats.

Thanks a lot, that answered my questions!

It looks like imported parties are much more balanced in wiz8 than in wiz7. In wiz7, my imported lvl 5 party was far a head of most new parties at higher levels.

It will of course be a little sad to lose my trusty Muramasa blade and my Zatoichi bo (the last one took maybe 50 hrs realtime T-rex hunting in the Enchanted forest (wiz6) to find - had a lot of spare time those days .
