Get very close to the wall and then try it. It is one of the hard ones to hit the exact right spot.

When I have that problem (hitting the right spot) I move the cursor around without the in my hand until I see it change to the hand figure and then make a note of that location. Hope that helps.

At that point a question in my mind came up:

For what kind of people was this game designed, i mean, there are several situations in the game where you must have a good portion luck to go on...

Without an walktrough (normally i hate spoilers) my party would have died in rapax castle because of age...

I don't think you need luck to finish this game, but you need to be VERY though. I admit that I needed a hint in the Rift, but that was all I needed. Sir-Tech always did a good job in giving you all the clues you needed, but you have to read and look at everything, there are some clues that are obtuse. Tell my where you think you needed luck to finish the game.

Random encounters and treasures ... and maybe being in the right mindset at the right moment. I never would have found the second pillar collapse in the rift ... in my mind I triggered one, that was all for that "puzzle" ... and I felt I was thorough.

I supposed it could be luck or thouroughness that may have eventually uncovered that hot spot ... but it woudl take little of one (luck) and a whole lot of the other

Funny you should hit on the one hint I required, provided by you LLevram. I still say that throughness would have uncovered the solution for that "puzzle". Probably the fact that I was trying to finish one time before I had the game for a year made me less through than I would normally be. I know enough about Wizardry games to spend time running the curser over everything looking for that hand icon. I just got a little frustrated, and I know that there are always helpful hints available here.

I was stuck for about two weeks in the rift, with no way in sight of solving that one ... As I said, my mindset was "I did that, so there is nothing else here .. must be something else nearby or another way in ... or the cave-in was a mistake"

As for running the cursor over the entire rift, inch by inch

Well, maybe the catapult at martens bluff, i needed about 2 hours and ran about 40 times round the building but could not find anything

And, again in MB i saw this big gate and wanted to open it, but no way.
After an half hours or so i gave it up and went to lower bluff and there i found a switch...

So, how does luck figure into it? It just took time to do these things. These took me lots of time to figure out too( and other things took even longer ).

I am not trying to start a flame war or anything like that. I am contesting your assertion that a person needs a lot of luck or a walkthrough to finish the game. There are a lot of suble clues in the game( some of them I didn't see until the second or one hundredth time through ), and there are some things that you just need to look throughly and try a lot of options until you find the 'solution'.

Ok, it was misunderstandable (does this word exist? ^^).
Let us say that you need luck or really much time .

And, please, dont missunderstand me, i like wiz8 really much and its a good game, but this could is a negative point of this game for me.

Dont think that you flamed me, we just have 2 different views on this subject
