Thanks for your help

Well, no. Using the Bishop's Remove Curse ability or the spell of the same name only allows you to take the item off safely for awhile (until you use it or reequip it). There is *no* way to remove the curse permanently.

Check these boards for ways to work with the curse, but basically the two most common strategies for using cursed melee weapons seem to be:

(a) give it to a hybrid character who can use magic as their long range attack. (Gadgeteers and Bards may be able to do that too with instruments, but the gadgie would be giving up use of the omnigun...)

(b) use thrown powders and/or scrolls, which don't need to be equipped. This is much more useful at low to mid levels.

Good Luck!

You can use Bishop (or spell) to remove curse from the char after every battle. In doing so, the char can shift to range weapons in next battle to start with. However, after he/she shift to the cursed melee weapons, he cannot change to range again due to the curse unless Bishop use a round of Equip / use spell to remove curse again.

As battles in W8 mostly start with range and then shift to melee, it is a possible ways but it is really very tiring to do the remove curse after every battles.
