All right, I'm feeling really thick-headed. Where is the Canezou? Exact directions would be really really nice.

Where you initially meet the two guards and gain entry to see the head honcho, right in that area is the path to the canezou. I think you have to pay one of the guards (reminiscent of Almagorte, or whoever that Dane was in Wiz 7).

Almagorte and Tollen Dane.

Hmmm...I'm in that area, talked to Al-Adryian, paid, got the badge, talked to Al-Sedexus after doing the Dark Nectar thingie, went down the other passageway, found a teleporter that doesn't work, and a pedestal that makes me fall to an instant death (yet I was able to reload...not going to risk it a second time).

You aren't supposed to use the dark nectar until you already have all the pieces of the canezou. It's not al-adryian, but the two that are outside his area - two brothers or simialr sounding names (start with ans "S" I believe). After talking to Al-adryain, he tells you to get the canezou (I think). Then go back out to hte second guard, pay him and you get into the room (with a dropping floor - drops one level each time you beat the stuff within). There you get the canezou pieces.

Oh!
So THAT's why.

For some reason, I insta-died right there, but was able to reload, so I avoided that floor.

I insta died there as well, and in the Rapax Rift once too. I think it's when you fall through a crack in the 3-d models, otherwise known as a bug.

Sigh, I feel sorry for anyone trying the game in Ironman mode.

I don't think party crushing (and/or falling) events count as a "real death" in Iron Man mode ... would have to double check that to be sure though.
