"The Game"

Doesn't anyone hate this game? I sure do. The monsters keep respawning!!! That drives me nuts when going back to an area.
I also think that there's way too many battles. What is so good about this game?!

I said that! Are you guys paying attenion?? I want to if anyone finds this frustating. It's not realistic for monsters to keep respawning. It is also boring to fight nonstop battles.

Yes, we're paying attention. We LOVE this game. For the same reasons you seem to hate it.

... the only thing that really fits in "##### you two".

And ###### you right back, I appreciate the compliment, though it appears the wizardy sense of humor is not Max's thing either

Oh well, if you're going to get personal, come on. I've got a few weapons I haven't tried on a human yet( or are you a human?).

And I really din't have to work at making you look like an idiot. I think you did fine all by yourself.

Anytime friend Max.

I think I could have some ####ing fun with "Max" on this board, but it would not be proper or mature.

Besides, I would have an unfair advantage over a 10 year old.....

Two quotes come to mind, I'll paraphrase since I dont want to look them up:

1. When entering a battle of wits, make sure you are armed.

2. Profanity is the last refuge of the incompetent.

Do have an idea of why Max wants to get even with you, nomad? You really seem to piss him. Anyway, I like Wizardry 8. Doesn't anyone get at least a little ticked off when mosters respawn?

In reality, no it doesn't make me in the least be mad or ticked off when monsters respawn. I happen to like it. It is just a part of the game. I consider it just another part of the puzzle to be solved. One of the things I really like is the fact that you can meet a set of monsters that you can not defeat at the time. Adds something to this game that I think is missing from a lot of games. That feeling of uncertainty. I guess that seems to add a bit of realisim to the game. I play in Ironman mode so my decisions can be real nailbitters at time.

About the only thing I dont really like is those times when a battle starts and there are a bunch of 'helpers' around. It does slow things down a bit, but it only takes a few minutes to get through. The Wiz8fast program cuts that down a bunch.

I guess I should not have made fun of Max, it does seem to upset him. But I dont go to forums of games I dont like and rag on the people there. I either ask them what I seem to be missing or just dont go there. I know there are a lot of games I dont like and there are a lot of people that dont like the games I like. We all have different preferences, that is what being human being is all about. I do get upset when someone enters a forum just to rag on people and call them names. Probably Max never really got immersed into Wizardry 8 and found it not to his liking. Thats ok, just dont tell me I am an idiot because I like Wizardry 8.

"respawning"
Posted by rbrown on Feb-10-03 at 01:16 PM
I once spent 2 full days walking back and forth on Trynton Road building skills. All skills, not just that "knock-knock" boring shortcut. I hunted monsters on rader then walked over and attacked.

They seem to spawn in the middle of the road. That's unnatural. They should spawn on top of the hillside so it looks like they are crossing over from a neighboring valley, then climb down the hill and into our gamespace. The weeds could grow from patches on the ground, so you could predict their appearance or even wait for them to mature and attack you. A few small batcaves or anthills too small to climb into would be decorative and logical. Just "appearing" is unnatural.

However, I understand the need for leveling, so I tolerate the racial, ethnic and spawning diversity in the multicultural society of Dominus. Even while I blast them into chunks with iceballs and psionic blasts.
