Is the only easy way to get the Light Shield to kill Jan-Ette? Can you pickpocket it from her instead or find or buy it somewhere?

Jan-ette dies as soon as you talk to her. You don't kill her she just dies from being held prisoner so long. You can get some good exp from her death though.
