I return to the Rapax Rift after cutting my way up to the ... I think it is called the inner sanctum or something. I had to portal back to Arnika to sell off the uncounted suits of Platemail, Katana's, and more Japanese armor than you can shake a stick at that I had collected from Antone's enthusiastic friends. After using the TRang teleporter to go back to the Rift I was going to pick up where I left off, but upon walking up the red carpeted area to get back to the first intrarift teleporters (I've only gone through the one so far) I encounter ... oh I don't know ... a couple of Rapax Samurai, at least ... 15 Rapax Archers, and over four Priestesses. I proceed to wade into them chopping wildly left and right until I decide to have Myles toss some Dust of Defection at the remaining Rapax Samurai. The Rapax Samurai switches sides and fights for me, only it didn't last very long. Just as he attacks one of the hordes of archers standing around him all the Rapax ... archers and Priestesses alike ... switch to friendly and the battle ends! Now this whole horde of Rapax is on my side!! What the hell happened?!

I immediately cast X-Ray to see what the heck is going on ... wondering whether other Rapax have switched sides too .... I can't really tell because there aren't that many Rapax walking around, but I can definitely see that there are other hostiles in the area. I don't know if they are Rapax or Fire Ants though. I have admittedly not checked the alliances thing in my journal as I came to this board before thinking of checking there.

One other thing I noticed .... whenever the Rapax Samurai cast Magic Missle my "Eye for an Eye" spell seems to be cancelled. I mean, it will reflect back for most of that combat round but the spell is cancelled much sooner than it should be. I was in round 10 of a battle with a horde of Rapax Samurai and Warmages and I had cast Eye for an Eye two or three times at Max power (which supposedly lasts 1 round plus 1 per power level).

Incidentally, what are you supposed to do with the Tattered Note, Sacred Tome, Heart of the Sorceress, and the Stone of Beckoning?

I think we have heard of mid battle side switching ... probably a bug. The eye-for-an-eye thing is less dramatic. I think the duration is not round, but reflections ... each time a spell is reflected it counts, not the round.

Once you get to the castle, you can seel your truckload of katanas (I had 19 this trip) and such to Ferro.

The Heart is used for a custom weapoon. The Beckening stone is used to open a door( good fight usually, I was just there and my samurai insta-killed him the first round).

Tattered note: this is a clue that lead you to the weapons in the monastery locked door after the moving bridge. Sell it for 1 coin...
Sacred tome: a clue to lead you to the shaman in the 7 bough. Sell it too...
Stone of beckoning: opens the door in the rapax ritf, near the way out of the teleporter
heart of the sorceress: with the chain and vampire's wing, given to Ferro, he does a special chain
