On the way from Arnika to Trynton there's a graveyard on the right side of the road. In the middle in a small house there's a ghost tied on a rope(I don't know how to say it exactly in english). Can I do something with him?

Yes you can...

Throw some holy water at him ("use") to banish the evil spirit lingering around. It gives some exp.

Just by chance you can find some holy water near the junction, where the path to the cemetary leaves the Arnika - Trynton road. D'OH! Some (too many, by Wiz - standards!) riddles are like the ones in Baldur's Gate 2: "Hmmm, there's a locked door, let's search this room and the one before, there's got to be a key somewhere. Oh, look, here it is!"

You get a few experience points for solving the graveyard puzzle; BUT...you get WAY more points popping in on the graveyard at night and battling spooks for points, cash, and items. DON'T solve this puzzle--I say.

I don't see how it should a bad things either way if you do the puzzle or not. The monsters and creatures at night still appear whether you solve the puzzle or not. At least thats how it's seemed to me.

I have tried using Holy Water on the hanging skeleton and I get a message (I don't remember exactly what it said) saying I can't do that right now. Why not and when can I use the holy water?

Also, I tried using the dagger on the pillar but when I click on "use" the dagger is not in my list of usable items. Is this the wrong dagger? It is not a "dagger of something" it just says "Dagger".

Thanks for your help.

Both of these require that you have the item "in-hand".

For both items (dagger and Holy Water), go into your inventory screen, grab(left-click) the item then exit the inventory screen.

The item should now be part of your mouse pointer, now click on the skeleton while holding the Holy Water. Use the same procedure to "use" the dagger on the pillar.

Throughout the graveyard there are symbols you have to click on to make it so you can access the bonus dungeon. Not sure exactly how many of these symbols there are (maybe 6-8), but once you click on them they glow blue. And then you should be able to go to the NW end of the Graveyard and use a plain dagger in the pillar.
About the Dagger not working, I can only assume it's that your missing the symbols throughout the graveyard or just not at the right pillar. But be warned, the Dungeon that you access by doing this is just a retro-dungeon to offer that classic Wizardry feel to the game.

And lastly with the Hanging Skeleton, I would suggest several things. Maybe even trying to be there at day and night even though I can't recall having a problem with it. Good luck.

Visit the cemetary during the day, fix the skeleton then wait for night. The runes have a faint glow, but the one nearest the dagger-piller is almost impossible (for me) to find. The piller and the mushroom ring glow at night.

Here is a CRUDE map of the cemetary layout. It looks better in fixed font.
