Pump one character's Artifacts(spelling?) skill. Most items have a minimum art. skill requirement to identify them without using the spell.I'm currently experimenting with this skill to see what level is needed to identify the various items.
I suspect that every item in the game can be identified, without using the spell, if this skill is high enough.
Similar to the skill requirements needed in Alchemy to be able to merge various potions and powders.

Alchemy is an awesome way to improve your artifacts skill. Get your Ninja/Ranger/Alchemist/Bishop to at least 15 alchemy skill. Then dowload from http://www.geocities.com/shau185/alchemy.html
the chart for potion making. There is a catch. A character with 60 skill will not gain skill from I.D.'ing a low level heavy heal potion no matter how many times you try. You need to I.D. pandumonium powder or renewal potions for that. Trial and error is all I can think of. Unless anyone has a good list compiled of artifact skill boosts for what range it affects. From what I've found you need at least a 20 or 25 to start I.D.'ing potions. Heavy heal is the lowest and will get you to about 30 to 35 in artifacts, then go to like a pick me up potion. Most important ... Split your stack of potions from 5 to a single potion. Do this by hiting the split button and seperating them to a single potion and I.D. it then. Reason? x5 I.D. power. If you I.D. a stack of 5 potions it acts as I.D.'ing one potion ... if you seperate them you I.D. 5 potions boosting your skill faster. Same works for creating the potions by your alchemist ... as well as training your casters by a locked door w/ knock spell or charming ... always use the lowest power of spell to conserve SP's ... P1 spell has same affect as a P7 ... but thats a different topic. Hope I didn't stray to far off topic and that this is usefull to you.
