You probably found two little blue flowers along with the Idol. Do you remember where you have seen those before? If that isn't hint enough, read the inscription on the Idol itself. Once you have found the kidnapper, you might either kill him or accept his quest and get some more Exp once it's done.

Or, do his quest, get the exp points, and then kill him!!! Serves him right.
