"Wandering Burz"
Posted by rbrown on Sep-18-02 at 11:40 AM
This game still has little secrets built into it.Last night I sent a level 19/20 team back to the Monastery because I forgot to get the microwave chip on my earlier visits. While I was there I went to Burz to sell off some junk. I don't go straight to him, I fall off the walkway into the water (deliberately, since I've never tried that before) and do the waterfall and pick up the resurrection powder. (The currrent is easy to fight with higher strength levels!!)
So as I'm walking back up to Burz - I meet Burz walking down the hall in the lower monastery near the skeleton-on-the-floor!!! We stop and chat and trade some stuff, then he goes walking off. I followed him, and he eventually stopped at the bottom of the ramp that leads to the beach tunnel.
Has anyone else seen a fixed character move around like that ?
I have screen shots, but I don't have anyplace to post them. Llevram, have you got a gallery around here anywhere ?

I have had Myles do a crazy dance around a pillar in the monastery when I let him go there, one time. I have had Burz follow me down from his beach view spot, onto the walkway (and get stuck there) but no further. As for where to stick your screen shots
Anyone can get a free Yahoo or other site, upload them adn link to them. I don't want to get in the business of hosting screen shots.

Just went in there and looked around. Got a Yahoo identity after giving them some semi-accurate information, but the cheapest web sites cost 4.95 per month plus 10.00 setup. So if anyone wants to see Wandering Burz plus some shots of the Cosmic Lords Watching Me, email me at rbrown@grossmont.k12.ca.us and I will email them to you.

(a subdivision of Yahoo)If you go to http://www.geocities.com and have a Yahoo ID, you can setup a free web site. My wife has one, that was how I knew (very little) about it.

They don't tell you about the free website when you register with yahoo ...
Anyhow, the Watching pictures are The Cosmic Lords opening Heavenly Windows and Watching MY TEAM (not yours) fighting roaches and meeting Marten.
Well thats odd. The pictures are there but only the first two display here. Try going directly to www geocities com/r77brown/ then specify Burz1.jpg Burz2.jpg Burz3.jpg Burz4.jpg Watching1.jpg Watching2.jpg

LAST EDITED ON Sep-23-02 AT 04:05 AM (Pacific)Geocities, like most other free web space providers, either disables this hotlinking, or, like Tripod, puts a banner in place, encouraging you to pay for it.
they show up for you, as they are in your cache, forcing a reload will show, well, nothing. or in Internet Options, delete Temporary Internet files.
haven't found a good, free web provider allowing you to do hot linking
so, remove the pics, and put all the images onto a web page, and link to the page.
done in simple HTML, with this:
<img src="image.jpg"><br>
this makes all images appear, with a line break between them, so 2 images aren't side-by-side

I had to create a simple file with Notepad and upload it. Their Pagebuilder had a set size for the page and all the pictures were piling onto each other.http://www.geocities.com/r77brown/index.html

much better. seems strange for him to go that far.
I've seen him move to the cave entrance near him (where the wooden bridge ends) during a battle, and it took a while for me to literally squeeze through, so I could get to the chest.
Quite a view from up there, and no chance of falling down the mountainside (I've tried), so marvel in it's beauty.
on to the site, what are the last 2 pics for?You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

The last two pictures are proof that the Cosmic Lords Are Watching Me. Notice the big windows they open in the sky, notice how they seem to delineate flat sides and indicate a right-angle corner in the distance? You can see the same windows (small and low down) in Martens Tomb. They have also watched me from small windows on the edges of Trang doorways and the front porch of the Sorceress Queen.

"The round circles"

I do my screenshots by hitting Print Screen then alt-tab'ing out of Wiz8 and opening MSPaint and pasting to that, save it as a .BMP file then use LViewPro to crank up the brightness and trim the excess from the edges. The circles are frequently incomplete or blank using this method. My video memory is 16 megs "shared" from my main cpu memory of 384 megs, and my machine has had video-memory-related problems from the day I brought it home, so that is a rational assessment. But thats not the cause. The cause is The Cosmic Lords Are Watching Me and not you and you are just jealous !!!

Wiz8 has it's own screenshot code, saving the screenshots in the wiz8 folder.
then, I believe they are JPEGS, so, simply edit them with irfanview
http://www.irfanview.com
crop, resize, convert, basically what you did, only a little easier. You are only as brave as the challenges you take on
"JPEGS and lossy compression"
Posted by rbrown on Sep-26-02 at 11:09 AM
With the bitmap saves I get an uncompressed datafile. JPEG saves space by evening out (blurring) the pixels. With their built-in JPEG screenshots I lose some sharpness when the shot is taken, then I lose more when I resave after fixing the brightness. I downloaded Ifanview years ago, I will try the current version. The version of LView Pro I use is several years old, because the newest version is far more difficult to use than the older version.

I just have the standards ... Windows Paint(brush) (to deal with bitmaps) and MS Word (where you can paste the bitmap, then save as a web page, which saves the pix out as JPGs) ... thus, my Waldo picture (after only an hour and a half of cutting, pasting, cutting, pasting, ...

Irfanview has it's own Screenshot code, and can save the images in any format your heart desires, upon any specific key press you want.
This format obviously includes bitmaps, but PNGs are one of the other multitude of formats available.
and, for the HTML web page, I handcode it, using windows Notepad (Wordpad for really large pages)
basic copy and paste the IMG SRC=" part, and copy, paste the names of the files into the quote, type an end quote, then press down. repeat pasting.
much easier to handcode these screenshot pages, than opening up Frontpage and trying to figure it out.
not to mention faster.
after you take all your screenshots, irfanview can convert them to any format you want, using the Batch Conversion tool. not to mention it's free. You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

Bela either walked, flew, or fell off the top of his mountain in the Mountain Wilderness and now hangs out around the base of the mountain in my game.

Yes, I have encountered WaldoWhen,I was in the mountain wilderness retro dungeon on one occasion I encountered these cube looking things, A bit like a rubiks cube or a "Borg" cube for Star Trek fans. I did not have the presence of mind to take a screen dump.
Waldo, as one might expect was not much of a challenge, however My recollection is those cubes had a bit of firepower (just like the Borg).

I just saw those cube things! Actually, they are REALLY retro-looking. Kinda like something you would see in those early '80's games. I never let those cubes hit me though. I always killed them before they could attack. So, I don't even know what they look like when they attack.
