In the Kings Trophy room there is a keyhole in the wall into which you place the King's apartment Key to open the secret passage. No matter how I try, the key will not open the passage. What am I doing wrong? Have I missed something? Thanks.

Some of the "hot spots" are a bit sensitive ... try it without the key, with just the mouse cursor. If it turns into a hand, you are close enough to the keyhole, if not, move a little closer ... once oyou have the hand cursor, you should be able to grab the key from inventory and click on the keyhole.
