I have obtained some various items such as "Paper Reading 0", "Paper Reading 1", etc.

What are these used for? My first play through the game, I never used them or seemed to have needed to use them.

it is a part of a 3 digit code which can be used later in the game, in lower martens bluff, to get a weapon. it is not crucial though.
