Can you get lower level monsters when you are at higher levels? For example, I'm trying to get a venom crab shell and I am at level ten. I keep going back and forth in the Monistary from the gate to the beach and get soft shell, crusher and hard shell crabs, but haven't seen venom crabs.

There is no way to do that, short of recycling all your characters. Just keep fighting and playing ... you will eventually run into some .. or you won't If not, that is what next game is for .

I've run into dozens of Venom Crabs later on in the game, at about character L15. I'm not sure if I've seen them at the Monastery again, though.

I meet them there all the time ... well, I keep replaying the entry to Bayjin to get the Light Sword from the chest and I keep meeting venom crabs near the causeway, so it looks like a fixed encounter.

I FINALLY got a set of Venom Crabs on the beach outside the monistary, but only after about 10 (game)days of trying. I was wondering if you get lesser creeps (not less)if you reduce your difficulty level.
