I realize how to talk to the shaman but cannot seem to find the zuzu petals. Anyone interested in spoiling this for me?

After you pass the cages with the animals.
You should come to a long house. At the back of the house are some trees with the blue flowers. You can pick these they are zuzu petals.

I go into the "rising elm" hut and there is a pillar at the back of the room with a vine growing up it. It has blue flowers growing on it but will not allow me to take them. I notice that all of the flowers are high up and I am wondering if anything I have previously done has affected this to where it will not allow me to grab them.
Any help from here?

You may need to grab the lower ones ... somewhere your cursor turns into a hand, that is the right spot. If it won't let oyou do it now, then you must have already picked them ... if so, check your inventory (inventories).
