"Don Barlone"

Posted by Essexx (Guest) on Jul-10-02 at 10:46 AM
I have tried (unsucessfully) to take out the 2 Rattkins, Don Barlone & Milano Calzone. Calzone is fairly easy to take out, but I cant bring down The Don. The only thing that seems to do damage is to Summon an Elemental, hide behind it & keep casting "Razor Cloak" on it.

I can never even score a hit when I try to shoot him with arrows, slings & knives.

My guys are around 11 level. Has anyone had any success taking him out?

I usually use haste (the bottled stuff) and enchanted blade. My level 11-12 teams usually does 30 points damage per round. Try Dust of Defection on Milano and have him join your side. Another trick is to start combat, kill Milano then retreat to the hallway. The Don doesn't follow. When combat breaks off, heal everybody and go back.

Since the Don is lvl 20, you may want to get a little more
experience before taking him on.

I finally took him down. It was a "chicken bleep" way of doing it but it worked. I armed my Alchemist with 3 Magic Nectors and casted "Summon Elemental". I then hid behind the elemental and had him keep casting "Razor Cloak". My other magic users kept casting "Heal Wounds" on the elemental. It took almost 35 rounds and luckily, the Elemental was able to connect once for 30pts of damage. The rest of the damage was a result of the Razor Cloak. I was never able to hit him with anything else. This took about 3 tries and 6 hours of playing time, but I finally got him

There is a very useful thing called Superman, either your own divine spell or a potion (Superman Potion and Doubleman Draught - two brands). It works miracles in many cases, including Don's.

Another useful thing is the Restoration Potion. You should be able to brew it yourself with Alchemy 50+ (methinks). Quaffing this potion restores a *lot* of health and removes poison effects - not a bad idea when fighting Rattkin mafia hand-to-hand.
