People asked whether this feat of arms was possible. Since there are no answers in this forum (at least I could not find them), let me post the algorithm here:
1) Getting rid of the centries at the entrance - wait for wild monsters to appear nearby the forbidden area (even in the parallel corridor), start combat, and move into the visibility of the centries while luring the monsters behind the party. In several rounds the valiant T'Rang centries will bravely flee out of sight. And they will not return after the combat is over.
2) Opening the door - the correct code 740 (AFAIR) can be found in this forum thanks to some nice people.
3) Getting the rod - if you just walk in, the T'Rang inside will become hostile spoiling the previous efforts. But here is the trick: click the sword button and move into the room when in *the combat mode*. Do you feel the difference? Now you can take the rod and depart leaving everyone happy and friendly. ;)

Along the same lines, involving combat, but you initiate it yourself, with no monsters around.
