yamir told me to go to lower martens bluff and when I tried to go back via the mines the rock had blocked the way. How do I get back there?

But I think there is a switch hidden in the bushes, just outside the door (the one before you reach the falling rocks, or even see the sign for them - off to the left).

I always hit that switch before making the rocks roll (and ran in quickly). I think that switch is supposed to unlock the door (that lies straight ahead) to allow you to bypass the rock block.

I am trying to get there from the mines and the rock has me blocked. So you are saying there is a switch there to move the rock??

Not sure, but I think the switch unlocks the door which you need to reach *behind* the rock. If the rock has fallen already, the switch won't help. I'm afraid I don't know where to go if the rock is already blocking your way. Anyone?

(screen shot wins every time )

Here you go ... it is (almost) as I thought. As you come up the hill, if you wander about in the weeds, just a bit before the rock tumbler, you get some message like "you find a switch that looks like a rock" (in the screen shot it we be back and to the right a bit).

I am more like the rock, and just took that to be "I triggered some event". The actual switch (rock) is nearer the edge, where the wall looks a bit blockish (where the hand icon is in the screen shot).

I included the offending boulder for reference, as well as the door the switch will open (and close if you hit it again).

As a side note: thanks! In replaying a game to get to this too test this out, I ran into a new monster(s) I had never encountered before, in the swamp: brain borers.
