For those of you that have tried solo, what do you recommend the best class race for doing this?

In my humble opinion: female ranger.
race does not matter much.

Female Mook Ranger (Mook are sensational Rangers, and the female is for the stamina necklace etc?)

Yes, female is for the stamina necklace. Most of the time stamina exhaustion during fights.
Ranger because of the infinity helm, alchemist potion mixing (and lotsa money), teleport spell, wide range of weapons and armors. And the incredible death cloud.
Mook is a good choice.

Second most popular choice female fairy ninja. Armed with the Cane Corpus (one of the deadliest weapons in the game and only usuable by a FN), alchemist skills, lockpicking,pickpocketing. This is one DANGEROUS lady.
