"Gadgeteers and powercast"

Posted by duck (Guest) on May-29-02 at 09:06 AM
this is one for the veterans...

My gad has just reached 100 int and thus unlocked powercast. Now I wondering whether powercast improves his performance with his gadgets?
Technically he is casting spells albeit through the use of gagdets, so it should matter. Can anyone confirm this from his/her observations?

Thanks for your help,
duck

I don't think there has ever been a definitive answer on this ... I always build it up (same with Bard) ... figure it can't hurt.

I can't confirm because I'm at work but I'm pretty sure that it does NOT affect the power of the gadgets. I believe it's the same as Power Strike with Modern Weapons (this I'm sure of).

Easy to verify though. Check the expert skill after a number of battles. I would expect no more than 3 or 4 battles where you could use a gadget at least twice in the same battle. The skill should increase at LEAST 1 point if it does.

I'm almost certain that it doesn't (with Bards either). The advatage that Bards and gadgeteers have is they dont use Spell points, but the spell casters get pawer cast.
I think it may work like this: the controlling prerequisites for Music and Engineering (never played a Gadg., so I'm guessing) are Dex. and Int. Dex affects the chance of a wrong note or something and Int helps to jack up the power level. I'm starting to wade out of my depth (these are complex game mechanics here), and there's no way you can figure out the algorithms ingame
