"Help with Marten's Tomb Please"

Posted by Joey Nipps on Dec-06-01 at 05:10 PM
In the Sea Caves, I found the spot where one must use the fishing line & hook to climb up. There I battled many ghosts, etc. - found a key. I presumed that key was to the door with the chain and lock on it (which I presume again is Marten's tomb). However, that key does nothing for that lock. Is there another key somewhere or what? I am so frustrated.

That's not Marten's door - that's the Sea Caves Gate. Marten's Tomb door is across the crevasse - west side of the large cavern.

Thank you - found it. I suppose the Sea Caves Gate is accessed with something one acquires later on?

The sea caves gate key is somewhere in the sea caves.

And what kind of item I need to get across the crevasse?

Someone said them made it w/o any items, though it seemed a bit reminiscent of swimming the sea of sorrows There is a special pair of boots you can find in the sea caves that will help.

According to the "The official Guidebook" for the game, it is possible to cross the slope without the "item".

I can tell you after repeated attempts, I had no success doing it and went in search of the item.

I've used some wooden plank to cross crevasse ... with or without spiked boots I've always fallen down.

The wooden plank IS what you need. I have no idea why you might be falling down unless you simply are stepping off the edge - that IS possible. I have had no problems at all crossing the wooden plank.

Yes, you need the plank, the spiked boots are nice to have (well, I would call them needed ) I think the odds of making it on to the plank and successfully across w/o them is pretty slim. With both, it should be a cake walk
