Last night I sent one of my teams to inspect the Chaos Moleri. Thats all they did, pick it up, get yelled at and put it back. No switcheroo. I wanted to send them to Wilderness Clearing pre-away-camp and pet the Hogar, so I put it back.

As soon as I walk into HeLi's she's all over me about the Mook and the HLL and giving me Chameleon Juice so I can sneak out of town. When I go to Z'ant and give him the flag (quest#1) hs is clueless, but Sarok says Z'ant says we have the Chaos Moleri. And I think Sarok said the away camp has been established, so Rex is toast(ed).

I have read dozens of times that events are triggered by posessing two or more of the objects. Apparently you only need to pick up the Chaos Moleri to trigger events.

Don't worry, Rexx is hiding out in safety until those mean
Rapax critters clear out. Clearly you have found the Chaos
Moliri, even though you don't have it in your possession.
You are just keeping it in its original hiding spot.
Apparently that is enough. Be sure not to touch it if you
don't want credit for finding it.

Actually, Rex gets barbecued by the Rapax...if you explore the away camp, you'll see him being roasted on a spit.
