I am trying to find a short staff to complete the Northern Wilderness Rune puzzle and can't find one. I spent 4 hours trapsing all over the map. I visited most of the shops: the Rapax in Arnika, The Trang in Martins bluff, the Cajun guy in the Swamps, the Umpani with the attitude problem in Mt. Gigas.....nobody has a Short Staff. Any suggestions?

You'll find a short staff in the monastery.

The fella in the Monastary also did not have a Short Staff. I am at loss at this point.

Burz (the merchant near the Monestary) has one.

see when you get the short staff, good things happen.. so dont give up. try resting for a few days, then go back to the shop in arnika or try fero in rapax castle... thats if you have completed the templar training. hehehe

I have a couple of short staffs and until reading your post had no idea they were good for anything. I was able to get them when I completed the quests for the Umpani and the T'rang. When I returned to Lower Marten's Bluff to kill all the T'rang including Z'ant they would leave bags of goodies once killed. Several of them would leave a short staff. Hope this helps.
