I am in the middle of the T'Rang/Umpani alliance quest and portaled back to Arnika after going to Mt Gigas in preparation to going to Marten's Bluff. In Arnika I got attacked by a bunch of Savant Robots, as usual but what was unusual was that Lord Braffit came up out of the Temple and attacked me as well. Up to now the brothers had helped me fight the Savant Robots (even when I would rather have them get lost and out of the way). Did I miss something subtle in the story here?

Everybody wants to ascend to be a Cosmic lord even Braffit but you you lucky stiff are the ones with the keys. Put yourself in their shoes and you will see why you were attacked. I suspect (haven't tried it myself) that if you walked into the Mook enclave even they would attack you.

At some point you probably offended some of his friends (like the citizens of Arnika). Having the artifacts does not (as far as I have seen) change your alignments with any parties ... the savant droids just seem to show up more often.

Disagree, 1st time through got attacked myself went to earlier save checked faction rayings Brothergood friendly webt in attacked by Braffit. Having the DD in your possession seems to set him off. Least iy was that way with me.

Just a stab in the dark...but are your characters insane with the DD in hand? Perhaps Braffit and company don't appreciate 8 psychos strolling around their town with three world changing items, talking about "ascend this.. cosmic circle that" while they're swilling ale and lopping the heads off Savant robots and sometimes each other. I mean, they just never know who could be next...

More to the point, I finished the game once and I'm half way through a second time, and never had anyone in Arnika turn on me unless I killed one of the civilians.

No, none of my characters are insane. Another note, when I went back to Arnika later, I went into the temple where Braffit had been and passed some other brothers along the way and they were friendly. Also, the factions screen says that the brotherhood is friendly.

Did you try earlier to sell some stuff to Braffitand he makes the comment It is not nice to steal from the temple you know it is a sin or words to that effect. Trying to sell a merchant his own stuff (even if you are NOT the one thatstole it can make them first neutral then hostile at next visit. This is procably what happened in this case.
