"cursed items - many questions"

Posted by newcomer (Guest) on Apr-15-02 at 05:04 AM
Is there any way I can remove the curses on items so that I can equip the item without taking any damage? If you can't remove the curse, how do you cope (or what's the point)?

Also, do all cursed items dish out HP damage (or are there other types of damage)? Do any cursed items affect permanent stats (such as intelligence, strength, etc)?

I have a bishop, so removing cursed items is not a problem. I just don't like have my characters lose HPs.

Thanks.

Cursed items come in three forms good neutral and bad. You may counter the "bad" effects by equipping an item with good countereffects example Staff of Doom bad Amulet of healing good total result neutral. WARNING*** Using cursed weapons locks you to the weapon as your ONLY primary or secondary waepon. This means as long as you have it equipped you will be unable (even though you equipped it) to use ANY ranged weapon. If this is a problem, don't use cursed weapons.

If one of your characters is equipped with staff of doom they can still use items that can be thrown like acid bomb or pandemonium powder for long range attacks.

With two cursed daggers, my thief could still throw pandemionium powders, acid bombs, etc... but no thrown weapons

In the has anyone has cursed items in both promary and secondary slots then tried to use an object. If they can then all I can say is the FORCE is alive and in Wiz 8. You can throw (use) something with a weapon stuck to you you just can't do it as well.

My thief deftly picking up th eedge of a bag of pandemonium powder, on the point of a dagger ... then slinging it at our foes (always on the count of 5, ... 3 sire )

Is the regen matematics the same as in previous Wiz versions that you with, say 1 +1 regen item counteract limitless of numbers of -1 regen items?

"Not sure..."

Because in this game there are items that drain stamina rather than HP. I suspect not however.

But there are regen HP-drainers aswell like capes (-1 or 2 hp I think). Haven't equipt it since I lack a +hp regen item for counteraction.

....is their ability to regenerate.

A Lord can bear an ulimited amount of cursed items without taking any damage.

One of their very few advantages in Wiz 8

Now it is real math, so a -3 and a +2 item add up to -1 overall, as do a -3 and two +1 items.

Thx, tried with RFS-81 and 2 -1 regen items and 1 +1 item and as you state....he started to complain...! This math is better though, more as one should think cursed items would work in the real world...if you belive in such phenomenas...!

My car in high school was cursed ... it would always (as I was driving straight, usually at high speed) pull itself into curve and hit embankments, stuff like that

Amazing..... What was your +regen items if your car were the -regen one since you obviously survived..?
BTW - When I hit golfballs it is the same feeling sometimes (I'm sort of HEXED). Suddenly the balls just fly sharply sliced too the right out in the woods and dissapers forever regardless of my current searching skill...

My computer is cursed. Now it has lost the DVD drive along with the CD-RW drive. The techs at work have never heard of anything like this. I'm making backups tonight (with a portable CDRW drive plugged into the parallel port) and it goes to a Compaq Authorized Service Center on Friday.

There is a xirus that eats CD and DVD driver files causing the ro become inaccessable. Sounds like you got a "bug" son.

To get Authorized Compaq Service, you must first allow them to do a "Quick Restore". This basically NUKES your hard disk and puts it back to factory condition, with all user-installed data and programs and viruses gone. If that doesn't fix your problem, THEN they will consider hardware defects. They should get around to it Tuesday.
